# How to Delete a Budget

## The idea of deleting a budget may sound unsettling, but it doesn’t have to be! It only takes a few steps and won’t destroy any of your work.

- Only company administrators can access BalancedComp.
- Budgets are essentially containers for multiple scenarios, which is where the real work is done. Deleting a budget simply releases the scenarios back to the **Available Scenarios** section of the Budget Builder.
- Deleting a Budget does not delete any Scenarios. If you need to delete a scenario, learn how [here](https://knowledge.balancedcomp.com/how-to-delete-a-scenario?hsLang=en).

1. Click on **Budgets** in the main nav.

2. Click **Active Budgets** in the subnav. Locate the **Budget** you wish to delete.

3. Click on the **gear icon** in the top right corner of the budget. 4. Follow the prompts in the modal that appears.

5. You have successfully deleted your chosen Budget! The budget's scenarios are now underneath **Available Scenarios** in the sub-nav.
