Learn what changes, how to tell which year you're on, and how to save last year's reports. Each year, BalancedComp publishes new salary ranges based on updated market data. Your BalancedComp team applies them to your system, either right away or on a date they schedule with you. You don't need to do anything in the app for the update to happen. This article covers what changes, how to tell which year's ranges you're on, and how to keep a copy of last year's reports. ### What changes when the new ranges are applied - Every position's grade picks up the new year's updated, national midpoint - Minimums and maximums are calculated based on the midpoint, so they will be updated as well. - Your geographic wage differentials (geos), which are associated with your branches, will change simultaneously. - Compa ratios for active employees are recalculated against the new ranges. Your BalancedComp team will send you a transition report when the update is applied. It shows, grade by grade, how each midpoint changed from last year and how your geos changed. ### Why a range can go down New ranges follow the market, so most grades move up. A grade's midpoint can still move down when either its market data or a market's geos move down. The transition report clearly shows the change for each grade. If a change looks wrong, contact our Comp Director, Jordan, at jordan@balancedcomp.com and he'll walk through it with you. ### How to tell which year's ranges you're on 1. Go to your **Dashboard**. 2. There's no option to switch a report back to last year, so download anything you'll want for budgeting or year-end work first. 1. Open the report you want to keep, such as **All Salary Ranges**. 3. Repeat for each report you want to keep. The reports most affected by new ranges are: 1. **Compa Ratio Report** 2. **Salary Ranges with Titles Report** 3. **Position Evaluation Summary Report** If you need last year's numbers after the update and didn't save them, contact support and we can help. ### Timing New ranges are released once a year in late October. We will start posting the date in August.
