# What is an Annual Cycle?

## Annual Cycles are containers that allow us to track and save changes over time to your Settings, Goal Libraries, Position Plans, Employee Plans, and Reports.

When you create a new annual cycle, we pre-populate it with the following:

- A new set of settings filled with our default content
- A new set of empty goal libraries
- A new empty position incentive plan for all active positions
- A new empty employee incentive plan for all active employees
- A new set of empty reports

After you have more than one Annual Cycle, you can reference each of these things and how they changed between the two Annual Cycles.
